£680,000 CHP investment to expand physiotherapy and occupational therapy services at Westbourne Green Community Health Care Centre

Community Health Partnerships (CHP) is investing £680,000 to remodel Westbourne Green Community Health Care Centre (CHCC) in Bradford, as part of Wave One of the NHS Neighbourhood Rebuild Programme. The scheme will expand community physiotherapy and occupational therapy, providing greater access to rehabilitation services and will create an additional 20,000 appointments each year.

The scheme has now reached financial close and work is underway, with completion expected in November 2026.

Meeting local health needs

CHP is delivering the project in partnership with Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, Bradford and Airedale Estates Partnership (LIFTCo), and Sewell Advisory.

Westbourne Green CHCC is one of 16 CHP NHS LIFT buildings selected for the Wave One NHS Neighbourhood Rebuild Programme. The centre serves diverse communities, with high health needs, where improving access to local, joined-up healthcare is a priority.

The investment demonstrates how targeted improvements to existing NHS LIFT buildings can increase capacity, modernise services and support neighbourhood healthcare. Once complete, the enhanced facilities will help more patients access rehabilitation, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy services in their local neighbourhood, reducing travel across the city.

This £680,000 investment demonstrates CHP's commitment to ensuring NHS LIFT buildings meet the needs of local communities. This NHS Neighbourhood Rebuild Programme project is a great example, unlocking and expanding physiotherapy facilities, increasing access to rehabilitation and strengthening the range of care available at Westbourne Green.

We’re delighted to be project managing the Westbourne Green Community Health Care Centre on behalf of Bradford and Airedale Estates Partnership. We’re currently coordinating a number of projects to create neighbourhood health centres across the north of England, and we can’t wait to see the fantastic benefits these projects will have for patients, bringing more services into the places people live and ensuring the region’s health estate is utilised fully.

This investment in Westbourne Green represents a major step forward for rehabilitation services in Bradford. The additional space and enhanced facilities will enable more people to access high quality physiotherapy and occupational therapy closer to home, in a modern environment that is designed to support independence, recovery and wellbeing. We are excited about the positive difference this will make for our patients, communities and staff.

Over the last 25 years, the LIFT scheme has been vital to upgrading the country’s primary care facilities, so it’s great to see LIFT also playing a key part in the neighbourhood health service programme. These improvements to Westbourne Green Community Health Care Centre means the facility can continue providing services the community needs close to home, without patients having to travel to hospital.
