Our partnerships

Local Improvement Finance Trusts (LIFTCos)

LIFT (Local Improvement Finance Trust) Companies are locally based joint ventures between the public and private sectors, which bring together the resources and expertise to design, build, fund and operate multi-use health facilities in some of the most disadvantaged parts of the country.

There are 49 LIFT companies delivering health properties and services within areas of greatest need and bringing real social value and health benefit to those communities.

Overall investment exceeds £2.5 billion and has delivered 350 facilities.

Through our ongoing partnership with LIFTCos we ensure the buildings are maintained to year one standard, so there are no backlog maintenance concerns across the portfolio. We also have a pre-procured supply chain through our public private partnership model which enables us to respond to NHS need to flex and repurpose space to meet changing care delivery needs.

NHS England National Estates Team

The National Estates and Facilities team within NHS England oversees and supports the operations and development of the NHS estate. They ensure that local estates teams are supported so that patients can continue to be cared for in a clean, safe, and fit for purpose environment.

Their responsibilities also include:

  • Promoting consistent high standards throughout the estate through setting national policy and strategy and providing technical standards and guidance.
  • Driving greater social value and resilience through a standard approach to capital delivery and assurance.
  • Keep sustainability and innovation at the heart of NHS estate work to deliver a Net Zero estate in line with the NHS’s targets.
  • Ensuring that the NHS estate and facilities are optimised to deliver world-class healthcare to the nation.

We work closely with the NHS England’s National Estates Team to support delivery on national programmes such as the Primary Care Data Gathering Programme, Primary Care Service and Estates Planning and Community Diagnostic Centres. We partner with NHS England’s National Estates Team to support Integrated Care Systems with developing their infrastructure strategies through our advisory and delivery capabilities.

NHS Property Services

NHS Property Services is a property company also wholly owned by the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. Like Community Health Partnerships they are key members of the NHS Family. Collectively we own and manage 3,310 properties, work with 8,500 occupiers and employ 6,200 colleagues including 5,500 frontline roles.

The property companies work together to leverage their expertise to support and lead initiatives in partnership with the NHS. Integrated Care Systems can contact either property company and we will seamlessly to review the best option to provide guidance and direct support.
