This accessibility statement applies to the www.communityhealthpartnerships.co.uk website. This website is run by Community Health Partnerships Limited.  

Our approach to accessibility includes both annual accessibility auditing, regular automated scans, and manual testing.

How you should be able to use this website

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. You should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser, or device settings
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software

How accessible this website is

Parts of this website are not fully accessible. For example:

  • some images do not have image descriptions
  • some documents are in PDF or Word format and are not accessible
  • some check boxes in our newsletter sign up form are not accessible
  • some videos do not have captions

Using our accessibility tool – UserWay Website Accessibility Tool 

A key element of CHP’s website accessibility is our engagement with a third-party accessibility organisation UserWay to help bring the website into compliance.

We use industry standard accessibility methods and tools to accomplish this, in accordance with the relevant version of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) as set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) the internet’s main international standards-setting organisation.

Therefore communityhealthpartnerships.co.uk also makes available the UserWay Website Accessibility Widget that is powered by an accessibility server and meets WCAG 2.1 & 2.2.  UserWay powers digital accessibility compliance on websites.

How to use the UserWay Accessibility Tool

The tool/widget is located at the bottom right of the CHP website (blue icon). Please click on the icon to enable accessibility tools.

The UserWay widget can be moved or hidden. There is also an extra-large widget button option.

The UserWay widget offers user-triggered enhancements that allow visitors to improve the accessibility of the CHP site. These features will, when selected, allow:

  • a screen reader can be enabled
  • dyslexia friendly including fonts
  • increase font size and text spacing
  • highlight links
  • change the colour contrast and saturation
  • change the size of the cursor
  • provide a reading mask or reading guide via the cursor button
  • hide images
  • display the page structure
  • line height changes and text alignment
  • pause animations.
  • dictionary button
  • tooltips button

The site has enabled Automated Remediation Technology (ART) for all visitors, whether they use assistive technology or not. ART does not detect Assistive Technology usage; rather, it improves accessibility for all site visitors regardless of ability by deploying remediation capabilities such as (not a complete list):

  • Images and other non-text elements have alternative text associated with them when required;
  • Keyboard navigation is improved with aids such as focus indication and skip links.

Compliance status 

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

  • When navigating the page with a keyboard, focus is hidden on elements such as the ‘LinkedIn’ and ‘Twitter’ icons by the ‘Cookies setting’ banner. This fails  WCAG 2.4.11 Focus Not Obscured (Minimum)

We are solving this problem with changing settings in the website dashboard.

  • Some images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content).

When we publish new content, we’ll make sure our use of images meets accessibility standards.  We are adding alt text to existing images prioritising popular pages and more recent content.  

  • Some pages include videos without captions. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.2.2 (Captions),

Some older videos do not have captions.  We will provide a transcript. 

  • Some documents are in non-HTML formats, for example PDFs and Word documents. Some are not accessible including missing text alternatives and missing document structure.

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish in the future will meet accessibility standards.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they are not essential to providing our services.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

Our approach to accessibility includes annual accessibility auditing, regular automated scans using UserWay functions, and manual testing.

We plan to run annual accessibility audits from 1 July each year.

We have drawn up an accessibility roadmap to show how and when we plan to further improve accessibility on the website.

 Activities include:

  • adding the UserWay accessibility widget
  • carrying our regular accessibility audits using UserWay software
  • manual testing
  • making appropriate updates.
