At Community Health Partnerships (CHP), our commitment to health and wellbeing starts with our own people.
As part of Mental Health Awareness Week 2025, CHP is celebrating the theme of “Community” by shining a light on the ways volunteering and community connection support mental wellbeing — both inside and outside of our organisation.
Throughout the week, we are hosting a range of activities and are encouraging colleagues to explore the many benefits of volunteering through our Employee Volunteering Policy, which offers up to two days of paid volunteering leave each year.
Our colleagues tell us that volunteering has real benefits for their mental health, including:
- Feeling more connected to their communities
- Gaining a renewed sense of purpose and confidence
- Reducing feelings of stress and improving wellbeing
- Building new skills and social networks
As one CHP colleague shared:
Stepping away from my day-to-day work for a cause I cared about helped clear my mind and made me feel more positive about life in general.
At CHP, we know that supporting our employees to volunteer not only strengthens communities but helps build a happier, healthier, and more engaged workforce.
Our estate of more than 300 health facilities across England already plays a critical role in delivering community-based care. By empowering our people to volunteer, we are living our values — providing spaces, opportunities, and support for communities and individuals to thrive.
Mental health matters, and at CHP, we are proud to be creating a workplace where wellbeing, connection, and community are at the centre of everything we do.

The team at CHP believe that our volunteering programme, launched in 2023, not only benefits the communities we serve, but also helps our employees develop personally and professionally.
