The Government has launched today its NHS Neighbourhood Rebuild programme which will deliver Neighbourhood Health Centres through a mixture of refurbishments to expand and improve sites over the next three years. As part of this Programme five CHP led rebuild projects at Stockland Green Primary Care Centre and Summerfield Primary Care Centre in Birmingham, Alfred Barrow Health Centre, Cumbria, Truro Health Park, Cornwall and Jubilee Gardens Health Centre, Ealing are included.
CHP is delighted to play a core role in the delivery of the NHS Neighbourhood Rebuild Programme. The LIFT estate already enables more placed based care, supporting the shift of services into communities and the greater integration of primary and community care. Today’s announcement underpins our ongoing capital investment to repurpose and adapt the buildings to meet the needs of the local NHS.
As written into the 10 Year Health Plan, making best use of existing NHS estate is key to the delivery of Neighbourhood Health Centres. Utilising the LIFT assets offers better value and speed of delivery. The repurposing of space through adaptations and refurbishment will improve access to patient care, delivering more appointments and treatment closer to home.

Through our Productivity Acceleration in the Community Estate (PACE) Programme, we are using our strategic estates and service planning expertise to work in partnership with Integrated Care Systems to identify more opportunities across the LIFT estate to further enable the delivery of neighbourhood health services.
As part of the NHS Neighbourhood Rebuild Programme, CHP will develop a neighbourhood health centre at Truro Health Park, Cornwall. The ICB’s vision is to create a fully integrated neighbourhood health hub. The opportunity at Truro Health Park is to significantly increase utilisation by reconfiguring the layout and restacking services enabling the delivery of a Minor Injuries and Major Illnesses (MIAMI) Unit, expansion of space for an Integrated Neighbourhood Team and Primary Care Network delivery, and improved collaboration between providers.
The refurbishment works at Stockland Green and Summerfield Primary Care Centres in Birmingham will enable the system to set up two locality-based command and control centres at pace. This builds on the success of East Birmingham Locality Hub at Washwood Heath Health and Wellbeing Centre seen as a blueprint for neighbourhood health services and supports delivery of Birmingham and Solihull’s vision and ambitions.
Community Health Partnerships (CHP) has published Transforming Neighbourhood Health, a report into how its place-based estate, developed via LIFT Public Private Partnerships, is already enabling the delivery of neighbourhood care in local communities.
