This Disability Pride Month, Community Health Partnerships (CHP) is focusing on the importance of accessibility, inclusion and equal access to healthcare for everyone. It is an opportunity to recognise disabled people’s contributions, challenge stereotypes and promote more inclusive communities.
Partnering with AccessAble across the CHP LIFT estate
At CHP, we are committed to ensuring our healthcare buildings are accessible, welcoming and inclusive for patients, visitors, and staff.
Since 2021, CHP has worked with AccessAble, the UK’s leading provider of accessibility information, to create detailed Access Guides for every CHP site across England. These guides provide practical information on access routes, parking, entrances, hearing loops, accessible toilets and other facilities, helping people plan their visit with confidence and independence.
Investing in inclusive healthcare buildings
Accessibility is an ongoing priority. Through the CHP AccessAble Fund, more than £665,000 has been invested in improvements across the estate, including:
- Automatic doors
- Enhanced accessible toilet facilities
- A range of seating options
- Improved visual contrast features
- Additional accessibility improvements identified through AccessAble assessments and user feedback
These enhancements help create more comfortable, dignified and inclusive experiences for everyone using CHP buildings.
Disability Pride Month provides an important opportunity to celebrate disabled people and raise awareness of the barriers that still exist.Through our partnership with AccessAble and continued investment in accessibility improvements, we are helping ensure patients, visitors and staff can access our buildings with confidence, dignity and independence.
