Financial close has been reached at Clifton Cornerstone Health Centre and Stapleford Care Centre, both in Nottingham, on internal reconfigurations that will see unused café space converted. The variations will increase clinical capacity and provide extra community space within the buildings.
The £647k CHP capital funded changes at Clifton Cornerstone will develop unused local authority space into clinical space and a further £388k of funding will see the café at Stapleford Care Centre change to community space.
Increased Utilisation and Innovative Use of Space
The changes to the underutilised space will modernise both buildings. The proposed changes will lead to increased utilisation, better use of the health centres and provide better value for money for our customers, whilst also delivering fantastic new community space.
With work aiming to start in June 2025 alongside partners at Greater Nottingham LiftCo and NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICB, Clifton Cornerstone currently boasts community meeting space, adult support and social care services, Nottingham City Council Housing Services, two GP practices as well as specialist services such as dental care, physiotherapy and rehabilitation services. The project will provide much needed sessional clinical space to support health services.
Stapleford is another building that hosts a variety of services and is a neighbourhood hub. Available within the building are two GP surgeries, children’s services, podiatry, artificial eye clinics and more. Whilst the changes taking place at Stapleford will allow more space for the community, there is further scope to remodel the upper floors in the future.
The café conversion will provide a much-needed community suite that can be used for meetings, training courses and community events. CHP buildings are designed to be hubs within the neighbourhood they represent and this space will add a modern, private and accessible space for the people of Stapleford.
I am excited that through fantastic partnership working, financial close has now been reached on these two projects. I look forward to seeing the works begin and hopefully deliver useful new spaces for our tenants and the community.
