Community Health Partnerships (CHP) is continuing to support the delivery of high quality, accessible health and community services through targeted investment and estate optimisation across its NHS LIFT buildings. Improvement schemes are progressing across the CHP LIFT estate through the government’s Utilisation and Modernisation Fund (UMF). These projects focus on minor refurbishments and reconfigurations that unlock additional clinical capacity, ensuring buildings can adapt to evolving population needs.
Across the Midlands, four projects at CHP LIFT facilities have been delivered that will increase patient appointments by 41000 per year. At Retford Primary Care Centre, CHP have changed an old patient record room and office into clinical space, with two rooms being refurbished at the same time, and a phlebotomy room added as well.
Changes have also taken place at Merlyn Vaz Health and Social Centre, Leicester, as well as Bulwell Riverside, Nottingham. These have included a reconfiguration of space into a storage room, and the addition of a consultation room at Merlyn Vaz, whilst Bulwell has seen two offices converted into clinical consultation rooms. Development across these buildings has totalled roughly £600k.
Stourbridge Health Centre, saw the conversion of a dental suite into a bookable clinical treatment room. The adaptions of all 4 buildings show the flexibility of the NHS LIFT estate and the effect that simple changes can have to enhancing service delivery.
These improvements align closely with the Government’s 10-Year Health Plan and the wider ambition for a Neighbourhood Health Service bringing essential care closer to home. The changes also show how CHP are supporting the drive to modernise buildings, upgrade GP surgeries and bring more care closer to home, as set out in the Department of Health and Social Care’s 10-year capital plan.
The UMF Programme provides a much-needed boost to local GP practices and the communities they support. By investing in flexible clinical spaces across the NHS LIFT estate, GP provisions can deliver more services from high-quality, purpose-built environments within local neighbourhoods. These improvements will enable practices to see more patients and ultimately improve health outcomes. We’re proud to work alongside our NHS partners to ensure these enhancements make a real difference for patients who rely on timely, accessible primary care.
