During 2025/26, Community Health Partnerships colleagues across the country have demonstrated significant commitment to the communities in which we operate. From environmental action and community gardens to inspiring young people and supporting families at Christmas, volunteering has been a powerful expression of CHP’s values in action.
This collective effort has delivered tangible impact. CHP’s volunteering programme exceeded its annual target of 660 hours, achieving an impressive 807 hours delivered by 87 volunteers. Those 87 colleagues represent 32.8% of the CHP workforce – a level of participation that exceeds both the national volunteering benchmark (28%) and the NHS Property Services benchmark (20%).
CHP staff can undertake two days volunteering each year.
These results are not simply strong numbers; they represent time, energy and passion given generously by colleagues to support people, places and causes that matter.
A Culture That’s Growing and Enduring
This year’s volunteering data tells a particularly encouraging story about growth and sustainability.
Of the 87 colleagues who volunteered, 38 were new volunteers, showing that increasing numbers of people are choosing to get involved for the first time. At the same time, volunteering is becoming a sustained commitment: 35 colleagues volunteered more than once during the year, choosing to return to their causes and deepen their impact.
Together, this reflects a volunteering culture that is both expanding and maturing – welcoming new participants while nurturing long‑term engagement.
I’m incredibly proud of what our colleagues have achieved through the volunteering programme this year, with over 800 hours volunteered. Seeing nearly a third of our workforce get involved shows just how embedded social responsibility is within CHP. What’s especially encouraging is the mix of new and returning volunteers, which tells us this isn’t just a one off commitment, but a growing culture of giving back. The impact our colleagues are having across communities is powerful, and it’s inspiring to see the difference even a small amount of time can make
