How the Tenant Satisfaction Survey is Driving Improvements Across CHP Buildings

At Community Health Partnerships (CHP), tenant feedback helps shape the places where healthcare is delivered every day. Through our annual Tenant Satisfaction Survey, Building User Group meetings and ongoing conversations, tenants have told us what matters most, from building comfort and accessibility to parking, cleaning and making better use of space.

This year’s Tenant Satisfaction Survey will run from 1 to 31 October, and tenants will receive an email inviting them to take part.

By listening to your ideas and working closely with landlords, facilities management providers and NHS partners, we’re delivering improvements in CHP buildings across the country. Here are just some of the ways feedback from last year’s Tenant Satisfaction Survey has shaped our work.

Creating More Comfortable Buildings

A comfortable building helps colleagues work effectively and creates a better experience for patients and visitors.

Following tenant feedback, CHP has reviewed a range of building services such as heating, ventilation and building management systems, making improvements where necessary. Examples include a new chiller at the Beckenham Beacon in South London and replacement ventilation vents at Bacup Health Centre Lancashire, along with changes to temperature control systems at several buildings to help create more comfortable environments throughout the year.

Cleaner, Better Maintained Buildings

Tenants told us that clean, well-maintained buildings are important. Working closely with cleaning providers, CHP has strengthened monitoring and responded to concerns raised by tenants. As a result, cleaning standards have improved across several sites across the CHP LIFT estate. In some areas, cleaning representatives are now attending Building User Group meetings, giving tenants a direct opportunity to discuss concerns and agree solutions.

Tenant feedback is also helping us prioritise repairs and building improvements. Recent work has included new flooring, carpets and signage at East Oxford and The Leys, alongside lift refurbishment and replacement projects at several buildings across the estate. At Wincobank Medical Centre in Sheffield, new seating has made the waiting area more comfortable and welcoming for building users.

Improving Accessibility and Inclusion

We strive to ensure our buildings are  welcoming and accessible for everyone. Feedback from tenants has led to practical improvements across the estate. These include a new accessible automatic door at Glossop Primary Care Centre, an improved wheelchair access route at Alfreton Primary Care Centre and relocated accessible parking bays at Park House in the Midlands. At Leigh Health Centre, funding has also been agreed for an automatic door to help children, young people and families access the waiting area more independently. New bariatric chairs have also been provided across sites in the Midlands, while furniture at sites across Liverpool have been replaced with more practical, washable seating.

These improvements are helping create buildings that are more accessible, safer and comfortable for patients, visitors and colleagues alike.

Making Better Use of Space

Tenants have helped identify opportunities to make better use of existing space and create facilities that better support healthcare services and local communities.

At Park House in the Midlands, four modern clinical rooms are now available to book, while a café at Stapleford Care Centre has been transformed into a Community Hub for tenants and local communities.

Additional clinical and meeting spaces have also been created at sites across London and the North West In London, NHS Open Space is making it easier for tenants to find and book available rooms.

By making better use of existing CHP facilities, we’re helping services grow, collaborate and meet the needs of local communities.

Greener Outdoor Spaces

Feedback is also helping improve outdoor environments across the CHP estate.

Using the CHP Green Fund and further investment, new garden spaces have been created at The Forum, Brownley Green, Partington, Energise, Willow Tree and Rossendale. Outdoor seating has been added at Alton and Bolton One, while Fishponds has benefited from new planting, furniture and an e-bike shed. A new bike rack has also been installed at Truro Health Park.

A staff garden area has also been created at Heart of Hounslow, London, where the team can now enjoy outdoor space during breaks and lunch hours.

At Finchley Memorial Hospital, feedback from tenants and patients has led to a new bus shelter, funded through CHP’s Green Fund, giving patients greater protection while waiting for public transport after their appointments.

These changes are helping create greener, more attractive environments that can be enjoyed by colleagues, patients and visitors.

Parking, Safety and Security

We know that parking remains a challenge at some locations, and feedback is helping us explore practical solutions.

Improvements include new parking management measures at Atherton and Long Eaton, upgraded facilities and signage at Thetford Healthy Living Centre, and action to address unauthorised parking at Chadwell Heath. At the Waldron Health Centre, swipe-card allocations have been agreed with tenants, while CHP continues to explore further options at Oldbury Health Centre and Nye Bevan House.

At the same time, tenant feedback is helping create safer and easier-to-use buildings. The Parkview Centre has received upgrades to its refuge call system and access controls, alongside a new external defibrillator. Security improvements have also been introduced at Deepcar, Audley and Whitchurch, while two-way radios are supporting stronger emergency arrangements across sites in Oldham. Clearer signage and wayfinding at Rochester, Rainham, Balmoral Gardens, Lordswood and Thetford Health Centres are also helping people find their way around more easily.

Alongside these changes, upgrades to staff areas, waiting rooms and building facilities are helping create more welcoming environments across the CHP LIFT estate.

Your Feedback Makes a Difference

Every comment, suggestion and survey response helps us understand what’s working well and where we can do better.

The improvements highlighted here are just some of the ways tenant feedback helps shape CHP buildings across the country. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to share their views. Together, we’re creating safer, more welcoming and more effective places to work, visit and receive care.

Tenants will receive an email inviting them to take part. If you do not receive one, please speak to your Operations and Relationship Manager or another member of CHP staff, who can help you share your views.

You can also share feedback through your building team, at Building User Group meetings or by emailing feedback@communityhealthpartnerships.co.uk.
