Life as an ORM – Jackie Sampson

Jackie Sampson, Operations and Relationship Manager (ORM) based in Birmingham, Midlands, explains how she sees her role:

“My role as an ORM has definitely changed since I joined CHP in 2017. No two days are the same, no two tenants are either. The day starts with a journey to one of my seven sites, catching up with security and reception staff, and as the tenants start coming in, saying hello, and making sure everything is going well.

Afterwards, the day brings meetings with tenants called Building User Group (BUG) meetings, as well as speaking to the Integrated Care Board and LIFTCo colleagues. Also, I assist my colleagues by helping them with various situations, including dealing with complaints, CCTV, Soft FM, and Hard FM.

There is a lot of work behind the scenes that tenants do not see. I work on Post Contract Variations, projects involving meetings with contractors, architects, LIFTCo, Hard FM teams, and the CHP developments team alongside the tenants. There are also Builder User Group Meetings and Water Safety Groups.

I try to catch up with the local CHP team once a week, which is invaluable as we share ideas, with the occasional funny story too!”

Focused on prevention and early intervention, this approach is now being rolled out across Birmingham and Solihull.
