Throughout the Covid pandemic, Community Health Partnerships has been doing everything possible to support the fight against the virus. CHP and LIFTCo estate teams have helped to facilitate more than 100 vaccination centres across England, with GP practices working collaboratively with CHP, the LIFTCo and various NHS organisations to help vaccinate as many people as possible.
Since the announcement of the Covid booster roll out to all adults over 18 last week, CHP has launched more vaccinations hubs in our South region. There are now nine sites vaccinating the local population, with CHP staff working to understand the needs of their trusts, LIFTCos and CCGs. The issues our staff are combating include the extra medical waste, security and the resources needed for the booster rollout to be successful.
One example of problem solving can be seen at Fareham Community Hospital, which is a mere 100 metres from another surgery, Brook Lane. With support from the army, CHP staff have helped to improve pedestrian movement and have plans in place to manage the minimal car parking space around the site. The team are liaising with Fareham Council.
Simon Waters, Regional Director South at Community Health Partnerships, said: “CHP are proud and pleased to support the national vaccination effort. The booster programme rollout has presented its own unique challenges for our southern buildings, but notwithstanding, we believe the plans we now have in place are robust and brilliantly support our staff and partners.
‘It is fantastic to facilitate these new sites and help people to gain easy access to their vaccines and boosters to make a real, noticeable difference to the communities we serve from within the heart of the community.”
How CHP can help with vaccination centres
CHP is continuing to support existing vaccination centres in our buildings across England, extending opening hours and setting up at new locations. We work with local NHS teams to establish the best estate solutions working through occupation and finance arrangements flexibly to agree on practical solutions.
If you are ICS/CCG staff or a tenant who needs a venue for a new vaccination centre please contact your local CHP Tenant Liaison Manager to discuss your local options for space.
