CHP run NHS Open Space room booking pilot in 18 sites

Community Health Partnerships is working with NHS OpenSpace and NHS Property Services on a pilot scheme using the Open Space room booking platform across 18 buildings in the Midlands and London regions.

The pilot successfully launched in March 2024 running for 3 months until 18 June 2024 (www.openspace.nhs.uk). The platform is live across 18 CHP buildings in the South East London and Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICB areas to book a range of clinical, treatment, counselling, and meeting rooms.

CHP’s Digital, Property Finance and Property and Operations teams have worked with external partners including South East London ICB and Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICB, NHS Trusts, and other organisations based in the two locations to support the pilot. We have worked together with a shared purpose, preparing for system migration, and engaging and supporting our tenants and room bookers to make the transition to the NHS Open Space platform.

The pilot is now entering its final stages, and we have had positive engagement from pilot participants, with over 12,000 bookings confirmed on the system, across 18 sites. We appreciate that this has been a significant operational change for all involved and would like to offer our thanks.

CHP NHS Open Space: South East London CHP Buildings

In partnership with NHS Property Services, South East London and Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICBs, we are very pleased to be running this pilot scheme and hope that the evaluation will show positive benefits for our NHS customers.

We’re thrilled to welcome CHP onboard in March collaborating with them as part of a pilot scheme to create an improved experience for their tenants and customers.

Phil Brenner, Strategic Estates Advisor at Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board, who have used the NHS Open Space service since 2020, has seen the benefit of NHS OpenSpace in his organisation and the positive impact it has had for colleagues and patients. Ten CHP buildings are pilot sites located in the Staffordshire and Stoke-onTrent ICB area

We are pleased to see the extension of NHS Open Space to our estates colleagues and landlords across the NHS, having experienced for ourselves the benefits and positive outcomes it brings to our estates management strategy. We look forward to working with NHS PS and CHP to further improve and develop the work we are doing together, to ensure our clinicians and patients experience the efficiencies brought about by the recent system enhancements and feel assured that the new offer will further improve access to the excellent care delivered to patients across our estate.

After the Pilot has finished, NHS OpenSpace will remain in place in the participating ICB areas in 18 buildings while the CHP team complete a detailed analysis of the findings to assess the benefits of the system. The team will scope out options for any potential further roll-out to additional CHP sites.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in partnership with our NHS colleagues and to further drive the productivity of our buildings.
