Breightmet Health Centre, Bolton, has reached financial close on an internal building reconfiguration which aims to maximise clinical space on the ground floor. This will see the development of three new consultation rooms to support the local need for more podiatry and physiotherapy services within the 6,200m2 three-storey building. This work will cost around £560k, targeted capital investment by Community Health Partnerships, supported by Bolton Clinical Commissioning Group, and the One Partnership.
The ground floor is underutilised due to the current layout within the building. Making the proposed changes will lead to increased utilisation, better use of the health centre and provide more value for money for our customers.
With work aiming to finish later this year, our partnership with One Partnership and Eric Wright Group will bring physiotherapy and podiatry services closer to home. The building is the base for Bolton’s eating disorder services alongside Alastair Ross Medical Practice and includes a Library. Converting the underutilised space will add approximately 173m² to the ground floor. The new consultation and examination rooms at 16m² will accommodate double sided access couches, clinical sinks and extra storage cupboards.
Alongside these rooms, the other podiatry rooms will be approximately 23m² with a specialist podiatry chair. Service delivery will be supported by an increased dedicated waiting area. The work is due to begin in July and last approximately 10 weeks. The works will be project managed by Eric Wright Building Consultancy and built by Eric Wright Construction.
