The Darnall Primary Care Centre (PCC) in Sheffield is now home to the Darnall Hall Surgery after an internal variation to the building reached practical completion. This partnership work was led by Community Health Partnerships to improve the use of the building.
The request was for the provision of a new reception, clinical rooms and associated office space, in an underutilised waiting area. The work costing £170k began on 1 March and was completed on schedule in late April 2021 with the GP team seeing patients on site during May. The team at the newly named Darnall Hall Surgery moved into Darnall Primary Care Centre from cramped accommodation nearby at York Road Surgery (a branch of the Baslow Road Practice).
The project included four consultation rooms, a minor procedure room and a treatment room. In addition to a newly created reception area, there is also more office space for the surgery team.
Partnership working
The CHP team worked with our partners at Community 1st Sheffield (LIFTCo), Equity Solutions and Carveti Consulting Limited (CCL). Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group requested this variation costing £170k to improve the utilization of its existing estate and improve the facilities for patients, health care staff and visitors. The variation was wholly funded by CHP capital.

LIFT buildings are configured and maintained to a very high standard, therefore, bringing improved and sustainable healthcare to its patients. As part of the Primary Care Strategy, our strategic aims are to have improved access to patient care, bring care closer to home, whilst improving quality and equality of healthcare in Sheffield.”
Darnall Primary Care Centre was open throughout the building work, continuing to provide an excellent service to the local community in Sheffield.
