Hear how patients, staff and partners benefit from our partnership working at Finchley Memorial Hospital CDC

Watch our short video sharing the benefits of Finchley Memorial Hospital Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) for patients, staff and partners.  We are proud to have worked in partnership to deliver additional diagnostic services in the community.

Finchley Memorial Hospital CDC is supporting the transformation of elective care delivery in North Central London. Patients have improved access to services and staff enjoy working there. The building has also created additional diagnostic capacity so patients can be tested and diagnosed quicker.

Community Health Partnerships (CHP), as managers of Finchley Memorial Hospital – a purpose-built community-based health facility, has worked closely with North Central London Integrated Care System (ICS), Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, North London Estates Partnerships and GBpartnerships to open the CDC as an early adopter site in July 2021.

As one of the first CDCs in the country, it has seen over 80,000 patients since it opened and was featured as a case study in the NHS delivery plan to tackle the Covid-19 elective backlog.

The CDC hosts services including a CT and MRI scanner, ultrasound and ophthalmology scans, additional phlebotomy (blood tests), cardiology and respiratory tests and vascular thermography.

NCL ICS set up a CDC programme in early 2021, which set out to optimise the use of core NHS assets, invest in local care, and support population health improvements as strategic priorities in delivering CDCs locally.

Community Diagnostic Centres are one-stop-shops for checks, scans and tests right in the heart of local communities. They are the future of healthcare delivery.

Partnership working, delivery capability and flexibility of existing good quality estate have been critical factors in successfully delivering the Finchley Memorial Hospital CDC. Using a blend of in-house delivery capability and access to our pre-procured supply chain, CHP was able to work with NHS partners to deliver the necessary adaptations at speed.

CHP in Community Locations

As an organisation CHP looks to place high quality, flexible assets in areas of high health need that can be easily repurposed for community needs. In many cases, our buildings already have at least one type of diagnostic service in operation and it is our aim to improve utilisation and eliminate void space, providing greater value for the NHS.
