As part of her official duties, Cllr Hannah Gray, Mayor of Bromley, embarked on a tour of GP-led vaccination centres across the Borough.  Cllr Gray visited and volunteered at Beckenham Beacon on Wed 24 February 2021. Certificates of thanks were presented to staff representatives at the Beckenham Beacon vaccination site, with the Mayoral visit programmed to avoid interrupting the vital work of both staff and volunteers.  Cllr Gray was given a tour of the GP surgery and vaccination areas by Claire McCartney (TLM), who also introduced her to the facilities team including the porters and the hard FM G4S engineer.

The Mayor was full of praise for the set up and thanked the local vaccination team and all the volunteers for their efforts supporting the local community.

Cllr Hannah Gray said “On behalf of us all, I simply want to share our heartfelt thanks to all the staff and volunteers who are doing so much to make sure that as many people as possible receive their vaccination in the best way. This has been and remains a major logistical exercise which is constant and the professionalism and care shown is something we are all grateful for. I am pleased that good progress is being made locally but more than anything I wanted to reach out to teams and individuals doing extraordinary things for us.”

The vaccination team at the Beacon are vaccinating about 400 people in each session; the vaccination site opened on 17 December 2021.
