Renova Developments, one of CHP’s key partners in LIFT developments in the North West, donated £2,000 to a national social care charity to buy Christmas gifts for people who access care and support services. Community Integrated Care is one of the UK’s biggest and most successful social care charities, and is working with people in Halton, Knowsley, St Helens and Warrington to support people who have a range of care and support needs.
Unfortunately, some people in social care do not have active family members. This often means their Support Workers purchase their Christmas presents, paying for the gifts out of their own pocket. Many people who access social care services do not receive daily support. For some, this might mean their Christmas Day is spent alone.
The Renova donation enabled Community Integrated Care to both provide additional support to people at risk of loneliness and isolation on the special day, and to give people meaningful gifts that let them know they are appreciated and valued. Reaching more than 20 people, the donation made a huge impact.
Helping people in Warrington and Knowsley
For example, in Warrington, the donation purchased specially-chosen gifts for eight individuals who have learning disabilities, autism, mental health concerns or acquired brain injuries. From Beatles albums for a music lover to a pamper kit for someone who loves a little TLC, the presents were all picked with real care and consideration.
In Knowsley, a gentleman was supported to enjoy a special Christmas dinner in his favourite local restaurant, sharing Christmas day with his favourite Support Worker. Changing what could have been a difficult day into one of the happiest experiences of 2020, this was just one example of the life-changing impact of Renova’s support.
John Hughes, Director of Partnerships and Communities at Community Integrated Care, said: “After a tough 2020 for so many of the people that we support, we wanted them to have a much happier Christmas. With the support of Renova, we have been able to achieve that. We are incredibly grateful that they have enabled us to ensure that no one went without a gift or company on Christmas day. We would like to thank our friends at Renova for their incredible generosity.”
Ian Willett, General Manager at Renova, said; “Renova always aims to support its local health and social care community. Partnering with Community Integrated Care enables Renova to make a greater impact, through working with their experts to deliver targeted initiatives that add sustainable value to the local community.
Supporting the Community Integrated Care’s Christmas Fundraising Campaign was a small act on Renova’s part, but we are incredibly proud that it has made a such a big impact to individuals within our community who might otherwise have spent Christmas alone”.
In 2021, Renova, Community Integrated Care and CHP are working together to create a Rugby League World Cup 2021 inspired accessible garden at Newton Community Hospital, for tenants, patients and local social care gardening groups to enjoy.
