The relocation project from Accrington Victoria Hospital to Accrington Acorn Primary Care Centre (PCC) has won the best Public/Private Sector Collaboration in Healthcare Award at the Operational PPP Summit and Awards 2025 (OPPPS)
The awards ceremony which took place on 2 December in Newport brought together a wide range of individuals and teams from across the NHS and private sector.
The relocation project at Accrington Acorn PCC is an exemplar of both the public and private sector working in collaboration and deploying quick action when faced with local system challenges to deliver essential care to the community within a short timeframe.
The project was driven by a trusted, long-standing partnership between Community Health Partnerships (CHP), ERIC Wright Partnerships (EWP) East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT), Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB). Over the years, this partnership has matured through ongoing collaboration and is now structured into multiple working groups and steering forums. This inclusive structure meant that the partnership could act decisively and quickly, resulting in a swift outcome.
The relocation of existing services from an unfit for purpose facility into Accrington Acorn PCC reinforces the value of NHS LIFT buildings, to enable the continued, safe delivery of service provisions within the local community.
Congratulations to all the winners.
