On 12 March, South Liverpool Treatment Centre hosted a health and wellness community day. The event was designed to inspire healthier, happier lives by showcasing a wide range of health, wellbeing and community services, all under one roof. With interactive health checks, expert advice sessions, educational activities and live performances, the day offered something for everyone.
Guidance and support was provided on the day by:
- SWAGGA Health Checks
- AAA Screening
- Community Police
- Complete Skills Solutions
- Liverpool City Council Libraries and Information Services
- Liverpool & Wirral Bowel Cancer Screening
- Speke Community Choir
- Community Diabetes Service
- Primary Care 24
- United Utilities
Each provider gave out information and advice to those who attended. For instance, SWAGGA helped deliver ECG heart checks, the community Police service offered crime prevention advice and security marked several bikes, registering them on the national Bike Register to help deter theft and protect local cyclists and United Utilities shared practical guidance on water affordability, supporting residents with useful information and resources.
The community day was only one part of how the building serves the local neighbourhood. South Liverpool Treatment Centre sits in a ward amongst the 20% most deprived nationally and is surrounded by wards in the top 10% and 20% most deprived nationally. Therefore, this building will play a critical role in healthcare delivery in the South Liverpool locality.
South Liverpool plays a key role in local healthcare provision, serving the Speke and Garston Neighbourhood with approximately 26,500 residents. It accommodates primary, community and acute health services provided by Mersey Care NHS Trust, Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust with support from LIFTCo alongside CHP.
As well as supporting the government’s aims to bring healthcare from sickness to prevention, the building also helps bring treatment out of hospital into the community through Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust. They run children’s services alongside the building providing x-ray and ultrasound run by Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Additionally, the centre is home to two GP practices, a sexual health clinic, podiatry department, physiotherapy unit, and two dental practices.
The community day was a fantastic showcase of how CHP buildings are more than just places to receive care. They are hubs in the heart of their neighbourhood where those who need it can receive information and advice in one place, without the need to travel to a major city, closer to home.
Events like this embody the spirit of Community Health Partnerships’ Buildings at the Heart of the Community initiative. South Liverpool Treatment Centre isn’t just a place where people receive care, it's a place where the community comes together, learns, and feels supported. Bringing services, partners, and residents together under one roof strengthens community wellbeing and demonstrates the real, everyday impact of our buildings.

South Liverpool Treatment Centre is the largest site within the Liverpool and Sefton Health Partnership portfolio, making it the ideal venue for this event. Its spacious waiting areas and excellent links to public transport meant we could welcome a wide range of visitors comfortably. We’re proud to support a centre that plays such a vital role in enabling community focused health and wellbeing activities.
