CHP appointed Restore Datashred in 2021 to ensure the safe, secure, management and disposal of confidential waste paper. Restore Datashred work across 67 sites in the CHP portfolio.
In 2022/23 67 CHP sites produced
274,242 kg of confidential waste with 633 m3 saved from landfill, 4,622 trees saved,164,545 Kg to CO2e saved from being released into the atmosphere and 8,775,744 litres of water saved.

The theme for Earth Day on 22 April 2023 is ‘Invest in Our Planet’ asking people, organisations, and governments to accelerate solutions to combat climate
Climate change poses a major threat to NHS staff, patients, and their communities. This is because there is a direct link between the health of our planet and the health of our people. During COP27 CHP will be focusing on some of the things we are already doing for a #GreenerNHS, highlighting some key facts about the NHS and sustainability, and asking our staff to pledge to reduce their carbon emissions.
CHP has donated more than 60 unwanted privacy curtains to charities in Liverpool and Nottingham, enabling people to learn sewing, encourage fabric reuse and support wellbeing. This is a part of ongoing projects supporting initiatives like Recycling Week, measuring and supporting social value activities and delivering sustainable facilities offering safe, flexible, well-used and welcoming spaces.
11 May is World FM Day with the theme ‘leading a sustainable future’. Sustainable facilities are one of CHP’s five strategic aims in our Business Plan for 2022/23 and are also a social responsibility pillar. Everyone at CHP plays their part to meet our sustainability goals outlined in our ‘CHP Green Plan – A Greener CHP, A Greener NHS’.
